| I'm selling my 1983 Mazda Rx-7. I bought it in 2001 with 79,000 and have put 50K miles on it as my second "toy" car. Since buying it, here's a list of what's been done to it:
5/4/01 -- 79,273 mi -- oil cooler seals / distrib cap & rotor / fule filter / plugs & wires
6/8/01 -- 80,240 -- master clutch cylinder
9/20/01 -- 82,088 -- new hoses & thermostat
9/28/01 -- 82,340 -- oil sending unit / radiator
11/23/01 - 84,075 -- shocks & Eibach springs / idler arm bushings
2/8/02 -- 85,650 -- Racing Beat Muffler
8/30/02 -- 93,483 -- rebuilt carb / shutter valve
9/21/02 -- 94,057 -- new front brake pads & rotors
10/15/02 -- 94,511 -- new engine (Atkins Rotary) / clutch slave cylinder
1/10/03 -- 97,445 -- 4 tires
8/9/03 -- 101,341 -- new rear axle w/ limit slip (4.44 gearing) & disc brakes / stainless steel brake lines on all 4 wheels
8/18/04 -- 111,402 -- new distrubtor and cap
4/8/05 - 115,016 -- new plugs & fuel filter
9/23/05 - 117,096 -- rebuilt a/c
3/2/06 -- 118,250 -- rebuilt transmission w/ new 5th gear (compatible w/ 4.44 rear end) / new clutch throw out bearing
5/25/06 -- 119,088 -- new master brake cylinder
6/1/06 -- 119,214 -- new trun signal relay
6/8/06 -- 119,500 -- new stereo (still has engine interference)
7/13/06 -- 120,315 -- new front rotors and pads
7/15/06 -- 120,346 -- rebuilt starter motor
12/11/06 -- 124,315 -- new water pump
2/24/07 -- 125,636 -- replaced rear hatch struts
5/1/08 -- 128,900 -- new battery
It has a Kenwood Excelon, KDC-X589 stereo/cd player in it, but AM picks up static.
My mechanic says it's worth about $3500, but it needs 3 things. First, it needs paint (about $600). The driver's seat needs to be rebuilt (about $400). Lastly, I'm getting a sound out of the rear end, probably the differential and I'm guessing that it will cost about $500 to get it fixed. That brings the cost down to $2000 but my wife is really pushing me to sell it, so the first $1500 that comes along gets it.
The car was just smogged. If it sells in the next 2 1/2 months, it doesn't need to be smogged again.
Along with the car comes a box full of spare parts, shop manuels, and other odds and ends.
